  The Grand Omari Mosque, a mosque from the Ayyubid era, was built in the neighborhood of honor and has a beautiful minaret. With the Israeli occupation entering the Old City in 1967 and the displacement of the neighborhood of honor of its people, the mosque became deserted and it was closed and prayers in it were prohibited by order of the occupation.
